Have an RG35XX 2024?

Hello, If you have come here looking for content for your 2024 RG35XX console, you should know that it has been updated internally, and now its hardware is not compatible with everything that we offer on this page, but do not be discouraged, because it is compatible with all the content of its older sisters: RG35XX Plus and RG35XX H. So you must go to PLUS.RG35XX.COM

If you don’t know if you have a RG35XX from 2024, with the rear label you can identify it, look closely under the name ANBERNIC you can see the model:

= Original
RG35XX Plus = Plus
RG35XX H = Horizontal
RG35XX+ = New 2024

1 Year of RG35XX

Today, December 9, 2023, marks one year since the launch of the Anbernic portable retro console, model RG35XX.

Throughout this year, we have been able to verify several things, among which I want to highlight and summarize very briefly in this entry:

– The stock operating system leaves a lot to be desired, it contains many bugs and errors that can be improved, such as the appearance and size of the resolution of the games, few emulators, etc.
– In less than a week after its launch, the developer Black Seraph shows us RetroArch running on the console and gives us hope that the operating system can be improved.
– The same day that I learned that the development of new operating systems for the console had begun, this website was launched, RG35XX.com, which you know very well…
– Before the end of 2022, Black Seraph launches GarlicOs, the new operating system based on RetroArch, with several improvements and additions, and possibilities for customizing the console.
Adixal, offers us a version of GarlicOs without graphical environment, based solely on RetroArch called MustardOs, (which over time will be renamed to MuOS)
– After several updates of GarlicOS, we began to be able to enjoy PORTS such asDOOM, to which more will be added in the future.
– From RG35XX.com we offer Bootlogos and Themes to personalize the console, and the possibility for page users to send us theirs to share with others.
Black Seraph, offers us MKV video playback 640×480 on the console, with subtitles and fast forward.
Shaun Inman, launches a version of his well-known System Operating MinUi fully functional for the console, becoming the fourth operating system available for it.
XQuader, brings us the long-awaited GMU Music player, to be able to listen to various music formats on the console, as if it were an iPod. The development of APPS for the console begins…
AcmePlus, surprises us with a functional version of Batoceraand unlocking the console’s GPU offering more processing power.
– The tireless work of XQuader, JoeStaff, Aveferrum, eggs, budtherooster, continue to offer us PORTS and APPS for the console.
AcmePlus, continues its development of CFW, moving from Batocera to Koriki, which gives better performance on the console.
Anbernic, launches an update of its operating system in collaboration with Black Seraph, making the DUAL operating system, being able to use the Stock or GarlicOS easily!
– Rumors arise of a possible update of the console with Wifi, Bluettoth and a better processor, possibly called RG35XX+
– A Crowfunding campaign begins to purchase the new update of the RG35XX+ console for the page and to continue offering content for it.
XQuader, continues to improve APPS and PORTS, and brings us a much improved version of the Video player, now using FFPlay, Prince of Persia or EasyRPG among others…
– DraStic in Nintendo DS emulator makes its appearance for the console thanks to XQuader, which revolutionizes the console again, allowing you to play more games.
AcmePlus, launches its version 1.0 of Koriki.
– Finally the announcement is made official that the RG35XX will have an update called RG35XX plus!.
Black Seraph shows us GarlicOs 2.0 for RG35XX Plus, although it is still in the Alpha phase and does not have its full potential.
– On November 25, 2023, the new Anbernic RG35XX Plus is launched. (And we managed to complete the Crowfunding and order one that is already on its way).

Thank you for being here and being part of the RG35XX community!

Website updates

Hello! Thanks for staying here! Lately I’ve been very busy with my work and I have little time to spend with Reddit, Discord and others…
Thanks to Gabi_90 our collaborator, who gives me a hand updating me.

The TV section where we had TV series and programs or some movies has been eliminated. For copyright reasons, they closed the account where we had everything stored and we unfortunately considered it lost. In a next section that we will create Tutorials we will explain how to do your own conversions so that you can do it for yourself.

The WIKI has also been eliminated, which gave us some headaches to build it and which in the end was left open for people to collaborate and my hosting provider disabled because it had been vandalized and full of SPAM with links to drug pages and others. drugs… REGRETTABLE!

The upload of Boot Screens, Themes, Battery charge and others had to be stopped due to misuse of it as well, it is a shame that people do not behave and make good use of the things that are offered, and also FREE, I don’t understand. I know that many of you want to send your creations but you can’t or they are sent and no one reviews them. Sorry, we’ll try to fix this shortly.

Security has also been added to users who register on the page, since someone has maliciously tried to hack the page on some occasions through attacks on the page’s registration. Luckily we have managed to avoid it, although with the help of our hosting provider. Some fan who is too much of a Miyoo Mini fan who tried to annoy us. (We received a message that said in English: “It will never be better than an Onion”, presumably referring to the Miyoo operating system. I did not save a screenshot of it, since I never thought about making it public)

Regarding the famous “Spanish Romset” by Gabi_90 that you ask us so much about, it is almost ready for us to publish it again, and we are creating a mirror in case there are problems again. Thank you for your understanding and patience!

Finally, I am creating new pages and sections to separate everything new for the PLUS version so that it does not mix and confuse users of the Original RG35XX. You will soon be able to see it, our PLUS must be here soon…

At the moment we already have the PLUS Stock Firmware available in our Firmware section.

Greetings from TechnopodMan and Gabi_90, Thank you for your support!

Themes (Skins) Updates

Today I have been creating modified “settings.json” files for each and every one of the themes that we currently have for download in our GarlicOS Themes section.
After a while, I have been able to verify that the vast majority of GarlicOS users prefer to have the images of the games on the left and their names on the right, and there are many times that I have read comments from users asking about them on Reddit. how to modify it or how to do it, since most themes come with the text centered on the screen.
So I got to work and created the 83 modifications, 1 for each theme, and added them to the list in the Themes section for GarlicOS, so that no one has to download the full themes again. You will be able to see the download button next to the theme download button.
To change it you will only have to unzip it and replace the “settings.json” file in the theme’s SKIN folder. This way you can have the images on the left and the text on the right.

The next thing is to review all the Themes and Boot Logos content that you have sent and publish them and add them to each corresponding section. Thank you for waiting and patience.

Weekend Updates

The developer XQuader sends me these modified and improved Dual-Stock firmware Scripts so that everyone can use them in their GarlicOS installation.
These Scripts are used to create a backup and restore of the GarlicOS configuration files, in case we make any changes and want to reverse it, such as changing some core… We can also return our GarlicOS system to factory. We have included it in our Apps for GarlicOS section and it is available for download there!

In addition to this, XQuader has compiled new versions of various cores so that we can update them, since they improve compatibility with games.
Here I leave the publication: (Links to updates)

TIC-80 (tic80): It is actively developed and the changelog is just too big, the most noticeable is HUGE performance improvement. I used bunnymark snd crapmark, benchmarks, and here are some results:

  • Bunnymark (bunnies number till stutters): 40 bunnies in old core, 340 bunnies in new core

  • Crapmark (overall score): 3170 in old core, 10015 in new core

PICO-8 (fake08): added RetroArch controls remapping.

Amiga (uae4arm): The uae4arm core that comes with Garlic OS just freezes my device, I’ve compiled a new one and in tested cases, it performs better than PUAE2021 (but it has fewer configurations options/features and fewer supported formats, e.g. not all hdf‘s are loading). I used a game as a benchmark – Fire And Ice, slight underclock (single minus), Threaded Video ON:

  • constant stutter in PUAE2021 even with frameskip and reduced “CPU Speed” core option,

  • almost smooth gameplay in UAE4ARM (rare slowdowns when there are a lot of effects)

Commodore set (vice c64, c128, plus4, etc.): there was a big update from the upstream project (v3.7 on Feb 12), but other than that mostly bug fixes.

Atari 800 (Atari800): Added savestate support, Rewind support, Disc Control menu (Supports Disks, Tapes, and M3U files), fixes for control issues, etc.

Atari ST (hatari): improved virtual keyboard (change keys position and colors closer to an ST), some bugfixes

ZX Spectrum (fuse): Added proper joystick management, and fixes for some control issues.

Uzebox (uzem): old core doesn’t work at all, new core “works”, but in tested games, it stutters even on overclock++

And tomorrow, more things that I have pending… 😉

Recent Updates

Yesterday, the developer XQuader contacted me to inform me of 2 new updates that he had made to improve the apps for GarlicOS, specifically FFplay and EasyRPG.

These are the changes of the latest versions:

– August 18, 2023:

1) Fixed screen tearing/VSync issues
2) Removed mouse cursor on startup.

August 19, 2023:

1) Fixed screen tearing/VSync issues

Thanks to XQuader for his tireless work!! Updates are available in the Apps section for GarlicOs

New Official Anbernic Firmware Dual (Stock + GarlicOs)

Just a few hours ago the news broke that Anbernic had released a new version of its stock firmware, this time Dual, with the possibility of starting GarlicOs as well.
We have not yet been able to test the system, which includes some new Apps and other well-known ones, some presets apparently made by Anbernic, and some ports of games that we will already have on the page for sure.
When we investigate further, we will provide you with more information. For now we leave you with the Official Youtube video. In the description of the video there is a link to download this latest firmware, bios, and even roms!
However, we have already made our backup copy in case it disappears…

16 Themes Updated

Today, thanks to a comment on a Reddit post, we discovered that some themes were not working correctly with RetroArch, as there was no Oswald font in the “font” folder inside “skin”. We’ve gone through all the themes again, and found 16 that didn’t have this font, so we’ve updated them. If you had any of these themes downloaded and they didn’t work correctly with RetroArch, you can download them again, and we hope that this time we have solved that problem!

Updated Themes:- CatOs
– Dreamsicle
– Garlic Fusion
– Garlic MinUified
– Minimal Dungeon
– Minui Garlicos
– Monoscreen Dark
– Monoscreen Light
– Moving Dungeon
– P535XX
– Pip-Boy
– Salad Edition
– Super Playboy
– Super Playboy 2

Pending things…

First of all I want to send a greeting to the EOL community, I know they read us, (I read you too!)

As I have already commented on some occasion, this community that has formed on Reddit and Discord around this console is causing many things to appear about it on a daily basis; Firmware updates almost daily, Themes, Apps, Boot Screen, and more!

From RG35XX.COM we try to keep up to date and report on everything we see as the most relevant, but for us this is a hobby and we dedicate just a little while each day, and sometimes we don’t have time for more, but little by little we are updating everything. Now we have a few days off in Spain, my country, and I will take the opportunity to catch up with the themes and boot logos that you have been sending us, as well as optimizing the existing ones.

We are also going to create a guide with the necessary adjustments in RetroArch to be able to enjoy each CORE as faithful to the original console that we are emulating whenever possible, since many people are tired of making changes in configurations here and there once and again and what they really want is to PLAY and not fidget so much. We are going to try to make it easy so that you only have to do it once!

And meanwhile, for the most gamers, we leave you here links for a couple of interesting things:No introduction is needed, an impressive collection of games thanks to EBZero and that we have added to our Bios and Roms section.

We also leave you a RomHack that is very fashionable lately for the MedaDrive/Genesis console, since unfortunately we cannot use the official version on the RG35XX, but it will delight fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, (Ninja Turtles) :
Also available in our Bios and Roms section.

More Updates…

Since the last update of the site we have had problems to edit the tables and files, but we have already solved it.

In this short period of time, GarlicOs has received 4 more updates, with several changes, and the developers have been updating their APPS and PORTS, to continue making them compatible.
XQuader and eggs have notified us and provided the updates that you already have available, and we have added a column in which to view the compatible versions.
JoeStaff brings us another Port, from the mythical Jazz Jackrabbit, for which we will need to have the game’s installation files, but surely they are on Archive.org… 😉

In addition, we are filling the TV section with content with RETRO series that we are converting to be able to enjoy them on our console and that we take advantage of to share with all of you. (They are our personal taste, but you still like them or coincide with yours).

We will continue to add themes, and update existing ones for better compatibility and performance.
